Jell-O Shots

h1 April 7th, 2008

I realize it is a bit odd for a pregnant lady to be thinking about, and blogging about Jell-O shots, but hey, I’ve got them on the mind. Whenever it begins to get warm outside my party planning juices start flowing. This summer is the year for a Tiki Party. Of course we’ll do the usual frozen piña coladas, but this year I’ve been pondering also serving tropical flavored Jell-O shots. You know, as a “Welcome to the party! Have a jell-o shot, everyone’s already in the yard” sorta thing.

I was browsing around the internet for recipes and found these crazy shot glasses. They are called the Twist ‘n Shot.

Just Twist, and Shoot!

“The solution to the pesky problem of getting your jello shots out of the glass…”

If you have any Jell-O shot tips let me know!
(Its been a long time since I’ve been to a frat party.)

First Baby Pics!

h1 April 3rd, 2008

Here is one of our first baby photos! It actually looks like a baby too. It was pretty neat to be able to see the itty bitty human moving on the screen. By 13 weeks I was starting to feel like myself again and had almost convinced myself I had made the entire pregnancy up. Those images assured me It wasn’t actually a dream. Yay!

Burp Cloths

h1 April 2nd, 2008

Yesterday I broke down and had a Decaf Latté.  I must say it got my motor running! After I had a relaxing morning at the dog park with Charlotte, all I wanted to do was sew.  I went down to the Discount Fabric store at their brand spanking new location (11th & Howard). I picked up fabrics for burp cloths, and bibs.  I haven’t made the bibs yet, but they will be in a super cute insect oilcloth.

The burp cloths turned out to give me more problems than I expected.  Mostly due to the use of bias tape (my first time), and the curvy-ness of the design.  Here are pics of the first two.  I imagine I’ll get better the more I make.  If i don’t improve noticeably on the third attempt, I may just make the ends squared off.

Lovable Toy

h1 April 2nd, 2008

I finally finished knitting this plush bunny toy for our baby on the way (oh yeah did I mention we are expecting?).  Well there it is.  Cat’s out of the bag.  Anyway, I’m pleased with how the bunny turned out.  It actually looks just like the picture in the book!  It is from a pattern in Last-Minute Knitted Gifts.  Maybe I’ll find the energy to also make the teddy bear.  So snugly!

Today I was at Rainbow Market and they had some beautiful organic flowers.

I couldn’t resist.

Lemons in the Afternoon Sun

h1 March 25th, 2008

I have the worst headache today. I’ve been pretty much useless. The only time my head isn’t pounding is when I nap. Therefore I’ve already taken two today. All I can do is sit and watch the sun play on the walls. I thought it looked especially pretty on my lemon display.

Easter Bay BBQ

h1 March 24th, 2008

Pete & Kim initiated an East-er Bay BBQ over at Albany Bulb. It was pretty much the most perfect thing to do yesterday. The sun was warm, and the view of the bay and the city was amazing. The one easter goodie I was craving the most was there! I guess it must be a classic. A mini sandwich composed of a roll (preferably the Hawaiian kind), ham (can be honey baked or not, this one was), and dijon mustard. MMmmm MMmm Good!

The way the story of Albany Bulb goes is that it used to be a landfill. Then after that it was a homeless camp. Then a couple years ago the homeless were kicked out, and now it is kind of a nature area, with lots of old junk, and a spectacular view of the city. The area we were at has a neat little skate bowl and a built in barbeque.

Doggie Park

h1 March 20th, 2008

Every day I take Charlotte to an off-leash dog park. Today, possibly because it is the first day of Spring, I had the urge to be somewhere nature-y. Fort Funston seemed too far, and Charlotte doesn’t behave at Bernal Hill, so Mclaren Park was the destination.

Charlotte had a blast running around on the grassy hills. In some places the grass was so deep I could only see her when she bounded up and over the grass. The wildflowers are blooming and Spring is in the air!

Charlotte went in the lake, but only up to her elbows. She was content standing on the shore and watching the other dogs swim about.

André

h1 March 13th, 2008

Its Spring and I’ve been bit by the crafty-knitty-redecoratey-paint the walls-redo the yard bug. We have been talking about getting a new couch for months, but it was never the #1 priority. When we were at Room & Board shopping for an office armoire, we decided to get the André Couch and Chair in Teton Pewter.
They arrived on Tuesday and really make the house feel like grown-ups live here.
